Aloha. I just discovered that I'm arriving near the Kona marathon, and staying at the Outrigger Keauhou, which is where the marathon starts. Is this an Iron Man style CF, or a home town event? I guess I'm asking if I should plan to spend the day up in Waikoloa because Kahalu'u will be mobbed, or if it's not such a big deal.

I'm arriving Saturday, June 26, and staying through the Aloha Music Camp, leaving July 4. Yeeeehawww!

(Hey, John, is Adrianna's open Sundays?) Very Happy

The South-bound lane of Alii Drive will be closed, so you will have to stay on the highway and approach Alii Drive and your hotel via the King Kamehameha III Road.
Sorry, Adriana's is closed on Sundays.

How sad, no burrito for me. Maybe if there's a break in the weekday schedule I'll sneak off.

I was planning on dropping down from the Kam III anyway -- won't that avoid the southbound Ali'i troubles?

oops! Alii Drive will be closed between 5AM and 12PM on Sunday so you are OK for Saturday. Adriana's is about 20 minutes from your hotel if you take the road through Hokulia. (Just keep going South on Alii Drive, it will take you all the way to the highway in Captain Cook, make a right onto the highway and another five minutes to the Kealakekua Ranch Center where Adriana's is located. Order the Roast Beef Wet Burrito, you will not regret it! Tell the girls there John said "Hi!"

Sounds like I might try a late lunch/early dinner on Saturday after the requisite trip to Walmart for sunscreen & Woolite!

I'm going to splurge and keep a rental car, even if I don't use it except for coming and going (I figure rental plus parking is about the same as taxi rides to and from KOA, plus I can take off if need be). Last time we just went with whichever national chain was cheapest. Any new info on chains to avoid, or maybe a "I know John" discount? Laughing

I decided to try Priceline and got a compact from Hertz for $15/day! The cheapest I saw was $28/day, so I'm stoked...

I would hate to see you driving there for nothing! Adriana's is open 10AM-5PM Mondays to Fridays. It's a small luncheon place with four outside tables.

Thanks, John. You saved me a trip. I've been there before (must have been a weekday) and loved my wet burrito. Now that I've got my car taken care of, maybe I'll sneak away for lunch on a day when I need some alone time!

I had lunch there today and I told the ladies "Gosh, did I tell you I love your food?" I even brought dinner home!
