I believe that RevoluSun is the local arm of SunRun. The local sales rep was from RevoluSun, but all of the contacts since have been from SunRun.

Well in any event, I am glad to hear the process is finally moving along for you. You think the county is getting caught up, or is this indicative of what I will have to go through...lol

Don't get your hopes up. That way if it takes a long time you will be expecting it. If it takes a lot less time than you expected then you will be happy! Kinda win-win attitude.

Yes Dave, that's what I am expecting....just would rather invest in my own electricity production than have to pay HELCO a years worth of electric bills

I don't think it's a matter of the county getting "caught up". I've been hearing the same complaints since we bought our property in 2003. Anyone who's ever had to deal with the building department (and county government in general) can tell you that they are the most third-world, feet-dragging, going-in-circles organization that exists. When you do your building here, get friendly with a local who can help grease the wheels for you.

Babette is right about the "grease" since when I built my house the waiting time was six weeks for a building permit. My builder submitted the plans with a sushi tray and I got it approved in two weeks!

Latest news. The panels are installed, and the electrician is coming out on Tuesday to hook up. Then we have to wait for county inspector -- I think they come to Ka'u on Tuesdays.

Ha, ha. They actually showed up when they said they would. Must be some workers that SunRun brought in from the mainland who don't understand Hawaii time yet.

Now we can wait a couple of weeks for the building inspector.

Wonder of wonders. The electrician actually came out as planned last Tuesday, and the county inspector came out today. That is moving really quickly in Hawaii.

March till September....six months and it's almost done  ...lol
How much longer until you can actually use it...or is the job complete? Do you get to pay for it now or did you have to put it all upfront?

We have to wait for HELCO to come put a new panel up, then we can switch over.

They have sent us a bill, but we are not going to pay until the system is fully functional. Only thing we've paid so far is the $500 deposit.

Well that is good to know. That would have been a lot of money in there hands for 6 months instead of yours. I am anxious to see how your bill will drop to almost nothing! Congrats!
