We are so bored with the same old restaurants in Kona, and saw an ad for a new Cajun/Creole place in Hilo so we drove over to try it. Guess that shows how bored we are........Were hoping for the best, but expecting the same thing so many other places here do, 'Hawaiianize' whatever cuisine they serve by arbitrarily adding mango or papaya or coconut when it doesn't belong there.
Not so the Voodoo! Absolutely authentic NOLA food, freshly made and perfectly spiced. We had the Shrimp Po'Boy, Gumbo, and the Etouffee, all of which were just wonderful. Real Andouille sausage and crawfish, fresh crusty bread, what a treat!
Large menu that I want to try all of, including beignets, both sweet and savory.
Located on Keawe St, inside the Hilo Town Tavern.
