Born and raised in Santa Cruz, Ca. Something about spending your whole life in one town bothered me. We have traveled all over the place, lived a couple of years in Southern Calif. after college, but the fact of it is, I didn't want my gravestone to say some day born, raised lived and died all in the same City. Last June, 2013, my wife and I said, let's move to the Big Island. We have been to Oahu a dozen times but never touched foot on the Big Island. We spent last summer getting our home ready to sell, listed it the end of August and closed escrow the end of September...it went so fast. After renting back for a month, we climbed on a plane 11/04, made an offer on a home 11/06 and moved into the home in Pualani Estates 01/12/14. Kona, is so much like the town we came from, except 12 months of warm weather here and I gotta tell ya', the people we at least have run into here have been much more open that many of the people back home. We miss our family and friends in Santa Cruz, but met so many great people since "landing" here in November and we aren't worried about our kids visiting in the near future. This, so far, has been a pretty darn good place to live. :salute: :salute: :salute:

Takes guts to sell your home and move to an unknown place. People don't realize how tough a move like this can be. Good luck with the rest if your life in Kona.

Not too gutsy, it's not like we took a chance and moved to Bismarck North Dakota or something like that!! :blackeye:
We miss our family and friends back in California, but we have chosen a place to live that everybody wants to visit and the Coast isn't all that far from here anyway.
