Well lets say I was needing to have some yard work done in and around Kona. What would the cost be to have your yard maintained on a monthly bases??? I know that the size of the properties makes a difference but in general what would the cost be to mow the grass and trim the brush two times a month.

I pay $60/month for a similar once-in-a-month service in Puna. It probably would be twice as much in the area your house is, unless you find a teenager to do the job.

So $400.00 a month would be a little steep for twice a month service???

Most certainly! Weed whacking and lawn mowing don't require a Ph.D!   You might want to use my formula: I did the job myself at first to figure out how much time it takes and used $25/hour as a guideline. Ask Rebecca, she might know someone in that area.

Our lawn/landscaping guy in Kona is great. If you want his info just let me know. I'm sure he will charge MUCH less than all that nonsense. He completely removed 3 palm trees and several plants from our courtyard, added pea gravel, stones and new plants, and an irrigation system all for $500. It was a lot of time and labor to remove the palms and make sure they wouldn't grow back.

dgreen, give me your address, and I'll do the work for $200. Unless your yard is HUGE, $400 sounds outrageous. We used to pay $75 a month. Don't your neighbors have any recommendations?

Do you really need a landscape service twice a month? My house is in a very rainy area and once a month is enough there. Your house is in a much drier area, I think you should be OK with a once a month too.

Well we started out twice a month and we went to once a month. Having little rain does have it's advantages. :P

I hear ya! It is at least every other week if not more often for me over here. It rarely rains over here and I shut off the irrigation system. I couldn't imagine what it would be like if I watered once a day.
